Founded in 1880 by George A McDowall- a Poor Rate Collector for West Ham Council- McDowalls has served the property needs of North East and East London-based clients for the last 132years.
Joined by Myles Francis in 1920, the practice expanded considerably under the name of McDowall & Francis to encompass Development, Valuations, Compulsory purchase, sales and auctions. This Growth, at all times, adhered strictly to the professional requirements of the RICS.
Since 1973 Douglas Stratford had been the Senior Partner, and the company continued to expand its core business activities.
Chris Baker, a Partner at McDowalls for over 10 years, acquired the firm on the retirement of Douglas Stratford in 2011.
The firm has continued to offer its traditional services, whilst expanding its range of services to include specialist lease extension and enfranchisment advice, property finder services for commercial clients and charities. Whilst the Head Office is based in East London, we have clients based all over South-East England.
