Excellent, Thorough Service

Fantastic Agent, Excellent Service!

My Mum and the family had to make the hard decision to sell the house Mum had lived in for over 60 years. Mum had an accident and the decision was made to move her closer to the family. We contacted three Estate Agents. Two sole agents and one national agent. We arranged to spend a morning inviting the agents to attend (one after the other) and to make a decision that day, so as not to hold matters up. We obviously looked at fees and valuations but wanted to work with an agent who could give us personal attention. Agent One (sole agency) attended and we were impressed them. No hard sales pitch to us. Professional but friendly. Letter post meeting delivered by hand . Agent Two (sole agency) attended. Valued the property significantly less than agent one. Very keen to negotiate fees. No further communication. Agent Three (national agency) attended. Arrogant. Sold the fact there was a call centre open 24 hrs a day! Said there was no way the property was worth more than a certain amount when Agent One valued it significantly higher. Seemed to infer they were keen to create bidding wars with potential buyers. Buyers would pay the fees. Did not appear to like the questions we asked. We decided to go with Agent One – McDowalls for the following reasons: • The agent was professional and friendly. • We felt there would be personal service. • Although there was a fee as opposed to Agent 3 we did not want to create more stresses and obstacles for potential buyer . • The market trends were explained and the client base appeared to be preferable. McDowalls met all the above points and the whole sales process went through very smoothly which must be partly due to Owen and McDowalls finding the correct buyers, knowing the market and clients. Thank you again for making the whole process relatively stress free and I would have no hesitation in recommending you to other potential buyers/sellers.

Smooth process

Extremely efficient

'Can do' attitude...

“We were looking to move fast and work with people who had a “can do” attitude. Our timeframe to move our Head Office (approx 17,000 square foot) was very tight as our lease was due to finish the end of June 2012. We started discussing options back in August 2011 with several people we had used before at the Refugee Council, but we were told that we would never be able to complete on time, given our short timeframe. However, we were convinced we could do this and through a recommendation, we meet with Chris Baker from McDowalls on 15 November 2011, who told us it was achievable. By the beginning of December 2011 we had a long list of over 30 properties and short listed this to 7 properties. Viewings were arranged on all 7 very quickly and by the end of December we had short listed this to 2 properties, which we started negotiation on. Chris Baker was honest, upfront and we trusted him explicitly. His advice to us on what would meet our requirements was sound. By January 2012, it was clear which property we were going to engage with. From there things went smoothly. Chris and his team were professional, calm, good humoured throughout the process and on McDowalls advice, which we took, we were able to complete on time and move into our new Head Office at the beginning of June 2012.    We would have no hesitation in using McDowalls again in the future and as a final comment, if you are ever told that you would not be able to make a large move in the timeframe you have, before you say ok to this and start looking at plan B, talk to McDowalls. We did and now we’re settled in our new Head Office premises and are delighted with the result”
